Auction #183 - Part II
Item numbers 1292-2528 in auction 183
Item Description
Featuring one of writer Gardner F. Fox’s most enjoyable plot twists ever, this issue tells the story of a man who is being hunted by his bodiless twin. Industrialist Jason Rogers has contacted the JSA in the hopes of securing their services. It seems he is being threatened by a villain named The Monster. Eventually, the villain is felled and he reverts to Rogers himself. It seems that the Monster was actually Roger’s twin; he just didn’t have a body, so he was using Rogers! The cover art is by Joe Gallagher, except for the head of Johnny Thunder who is believed to have been done by Stanley Aschmeier and then pasted onto the cover. The cover for this issue also serves as the splash page. With this issue, DC lowers the page count on the title from 56 pages to 48. This drop in the number of pages may account for the lack of a solo story featuring either Sandman or Dr. Fate. There is a full-page Green Lantern/Doiby Dickles comic that endorses paper salvage. Among the artists in this issue are Sheldon Moldoff and Bernard Baily. The pages are off-white to white. The book is CGC-certified 7.5 (VF-)
