Item Description
The Psycho-Pirate was just too good of a villain not to use him again. His first appearance came in All-Star Comics #23, and like that issue, each chapter in this issue focuses on a single emotion. Martin Naydel’s cover doubles as a wonderful group portrait. As a precursor to each chapter, a theatrically-styled mask of each chapter’s emotion is featured on that segment’s splash page. This is the last Golden-Age appearance of the Psycho-Pirate. He would not appear again until Showcase #56 (May-June 1965). That issue mirrors the beginning of this issue of All-Star Comics. In it, Psycho-Pirate starts out in a prison cell complaining to a cellmate. In the Showcase issue, this is shown as the origin of the second Psycho-Pirate. The original bequeaths his talent and knowledge to a new criminal. Artists who worked on this issue include Stanley Aschmeier, Paul Reinman, and Jon Kozlak. The pages are off-white. The book is CGC-Certified 9.4 (NM). According to the CGC Census, this is the highest-graded copy they have seen.
