Auction #183 - Part II
Item numbers 1292-2528 in auction 183
Item Description
Containing the third appearance of the Joker, this issue stands out in the long history of Batman. The issue is also notable because it contains the first mention of Gotham City in a Batman title. The city’s name appears across a newspaper. One other stand-out feature of this issue is the full page ad for World’s Best Comics #1. Once again, Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson come up with a cover that creates a classic look for the Caped Crusader. Writers on this issue include Bob Kane, Bill Finger, Clem Gordon, and Henry Boltinoff. Those contributing pencils and inks include Bob Kane, Lou Paige, Raymond Perry and Jerry Robinson. One odd side note; Bob Kane appears to have inked some parts of this issue under the name “Lou Reed”. The book is 68 pages big. Those pages are cream to off-white. The book is CGC-certified 5.0 (VG/FN).
