Item Description
The book is recognized as part of the San Francisco pedigree. Many consider this to be one of the finest cover images of the Golden Age. The artist, Mort Meskin, doesn’t get mentioned when the great ones are talked about, but the covers he did for this title should certainly give him a few minutes in the critic’s spotlight. The image of the villain trapped inside the bell jar, laughing at the heroes, is wonderfully rendered with a very crisp and authoritative line. The image is perfectly balanced for the cover. Allowing the Shining Knight to actually block the title gives the action an understated sense of urgency. The Seven Soldiers of Victory were not among the most successful creations of the time, but their adventures live on even today. DC has recently released a hardcover reprint in their Archives line which collects their first four adventures, and they have also been given new life in a current high profile mini-series being written by Grant Morrison. The pages are white. The book is CGC-certified 9.6 (NM+). According to the CGC census, this is the highest graded copy they have seen. This is an exciting title and a gorgeous cover.
