Item Description
This copy is recognized as part of the Pennsylvania Pedigree. The Seven Soldiers of Victory held the cover of DC’s Leading Comics for 14 issues. Several of the covers that they graced rank very high among the personal favorites of many collectors. This issue features another take on the popular hour-glass theme. This was a motif that DC – and other publishers – would occasionally return to over time (the most famous example showed up a few years after this one on Irwin Hasen’s cover for All-Star Comics #35). The hour-glass theme usually shows either the villain or the hero looking in an hourglass as either the hero or villain is trapped in the hourglass. In the case of Leading Comics #8, the Seven Soldiers of Victory are caught inside as a monocle-wearing madman (The Dummy),looks down on the from above. The pages are white. The book is CGC-certified 9.6 (NM+). According to the CGC census this is tied as the second highest graded copy they have seen.
