Raeburn Van Buren (1891-1987) was an American magazine and comic strip illustrator best known for his work on the syndicated "Abbie An' Slats". He moved to New York in 1913 as an illustrator and did work for the Saturday Evening Post, Collier's, Redbook, Esquire, The New Yorker and others. He was a founder of The National Society of Magazine Illustrators. He began drawing Abbie An' Slats in 1937 after being recruited by Al Capp and continued with the strip until his retirement in 1971. Wonderful example of Van Buren's illustration art.
