Item numbers 1 through 1428 in auction 203
Item Description
Complete 8.25x10.5" P.O. Document with perforated stub at left. In 1927 when Truman was presiding judge in the Jackson County Court in Missouri, one of his responsibilities was to approve purchase orders. On this purchase order #5580 to Martin Welsh Halen Co. Truman approves the purchase of 24 pick handles, 12 ax handles, 12 sledge handles, 12 hammer handles, six buckets and six dippers to be delivered to the Highway Engineers Department at the county garage. Blue ink faded some, but still extremely clear signature “Harry S. Truman.” Document is laid (not affixed) under glass in a same size black metal frame ready to hang. Two 3/8" dia. holes as made on left margin have tears to edge. .5x1.5" torn area at lower left corner. Scattered roughness on left and bottom edges. Does not affect signature. Very early Truman signature. Comes with Hake’s COA.
