Item Description
Each is 3-3/8x5-3/8". Includes image of apparent man elegantly dressed in women clothes standing in front of doorway with caption at lower left "Attempt Escape Sept. 5 1923". Reverse side has ink text "Lincoln Nebraska Prison". Trace of lt. dust soil, lower left of image area has two barely noticeable tiny shallow dents just visible in reflected light. Fine. Second photo is titled "Prisoners Marching Michigan City Ind" showing two different lines of convicts in striped prison garb closely marching along with two well-dressed correction officers. Photo is by Calvert postmarked Aug 26 1907 on reverse. Lower right corner has 3/8" crease, emulsion has yellowed with age and card has some dust soil. VG. Third card is titled "Ft. Madison Prison View The Three Grades" showing convict's prison garb changing from striped to checkered to suit with bow tie clothes. Light bumps at corner tips, reverse side has some lt. dust soiling. Card is postally unused and Fine. Interesting group. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
