Item Description
Like most great strips, Little Lulu had a very strong supporting cast. They were so strong that, during the fifties, Dell gave Tubby several of his own Giants. This may be the best one yet. It contains the first appearances of Gran’pa Feeb and Janie. Created by Marjorie Henderson Buell in 1935 to replace Henry in the Saturday Evening Post, Lulu remains one of the best loved characters ever. Her popularity has never diminished. Most recently, she appeared on HBO in a series of cartoons featuring the voice of Tracey Ullman. 'Marge' (Ms. Buell) drew the Post cartoons, but the art for other media was usually done by other artists. This Giant features art by Tripp as well as writing by Lulu great John Stanley. Since Ms. Buell retained ownership of the character, her pen name still appears inside the strip. The pages are off-white. The book is CGC-certified 9.4 (NM). According to the CGC Census, this copy is listed as tied with three others as the highest graded copy they have seen.
