Item Description
7x8.5" with 88 pages. Cupples & Leon comic strip reprint book ©1929. Book features Babe Ruth on the front cover with Smitty coming over to him on the ball field saying "Hello Babe - I Mean Mr. Ruth". Ruth is also featured on the inside and book also has appearances by Grover Cleveland Alexander, Rogers Hornsby. Title page has specialty art with Smitty saying "Say Babe, Listen To 'Em Cheering Us" with crowd cheering in bkg. and Ruth standing nearby with bat on shoulder. Storyline has Smitty working for a newpaper sports department. His photographer boss takes him to ballpark to meet Ruth and he continues to go to the games for his job, talking to Ruth numerous times, meeting Grover Cleveland Alexander, Rogers Hornsby etc. He gets Grover Alexander's glove but winds up in the hospital after getting hit with foul ball but Ruth comes to visit him. Covers have some dust soil and front cover has some color rubs on bottom half of image area. VG. Inside pages are clean, tight and VF+. Wonderful baseball content.
