Item Description
This outstanding 1.25" button is without its backpaper but otherwise in superb NM condition displaying Mint. A large horseshoe design encircles illustration of TR seated upon his galloping horse and holding his gloved hand aloft with a smoke accent emanating from his gun's barrel. The Hake Book example shows this button with a surrounding brass rope frame and in fact the original frame also comes with this item but we did not want to show it in our photo as we wanted to display the outer edge of the button to show there is absolutely no stain on the obverse although on the reverse by the collet there is the slightest trace of a hairline stain. The only relatively recent sale we could find for this item had it well exceeding $1000. Among the rarest and most graphic buttons to show him in his Spanish-American War Rough Rider uniform.
