Item Description
This issue is part one of the annual DC crossover between the JSA and the JLA. This is the fourth crossover to have occurred between Earth 1 and Earth 2. It also features the first Silver Age appearance of the Golden Age Sandman. It is also the third appearance of the Spectre. Solomon Grundy had last been seen fighting the Dr. Fate, Hourman and Green Lantern in Showcase #55 the year before. Released at the height of Batmania, the cover by Mike Sekowsky and Joe Giella uses pop art to make the battle seem bigger that any comic cover before or since. On the inside, the scene of the Spectre spanning the distance between Earth 1 and Earth 2 is still one of the most impressive splash pages of the Silver Age. The pages are off-white. The book is CGC-certified 9.2 (NM-). According to the CGC Census, this copy is tied with two others as the second highest certified copy they have seen.

This item has been sealed by CGC. The casing has a large scratch on the front which is clearly visible on the scan. Hake's will send the book to be re-sealed, at our expense, after the auction. This will cause a delay in shipment of the item to the winner. The book is untouched and the grade will be honored by CGC.
