Item Description
Frank Miller knew he had done great work with the character of Batman, but even he couldn’t have foreseen the incredible attention that this book received. When the series arrived in 1986, it revolutionized the way many readers looked at Batman. The attention from the media was red hot and also on an International level. The reviews were almost universal in their praise of Miller’s work and they were right. It was a stunning re-imagining of the Batman myth. It also placed a lot of the attention directly on that very myth. Reverential in tone, but rebellious in execution, the book succeeds on every possible level. Seldom are story and art as well matched as on this title. This is a first printing. The original issues #1 and #2 of the series went into three printings. When finished, the story included a total of four issues and was assembled in hardcover and trade-paperbacks. The pages are white. The book is CGC-certified 9.4. (NM). This is a stunning testimony to the abilities of Frank Miller, as well as the then current editors at DC.
