Item Description
Part of EC’s 'New Trend' series, this title is a legendary part of comic history. Prior to issue #17, the book was known as Crime Patrol. With issue #20 it would undergo another title change to Tales From The Crypt. Covers are a big part of EC’s history and this issue is no exception. At first it seems like a peaceful day at the morgue until you begin to realize that the corpse is looking to attack the doctor. The cover is by Johnny Craig, who also did the art for a story inside the book. The title featured the best writers and best artists of the day. This issue features art by Al Feldstein, Wally Wood, and Harvey Kurtzman. The titles of the stories are The Maestro’s Hand, The Living Corpse, Madness at Manderville, and Mute Witness to Murder. In addition there is a letter page and the inside cover sports a house ad for Weird Science #12. This copy is part of the legendary Gaines File copies. Of the ten copies taken from Gaines’s office, this is copy #10. The pages are listed as off-white. The book is CGC-certified 7.5 VF-. No one ever reached the heights of horror that EC did. This title is a perfect example of the company’s collective skill at producing the best comics possible.
