Item Description
EC has an amazing history. No other publisher in the history of comics was hounded and vilified like EC. The irony is that they started out with books designed to educate and enrich, like Picture Stories From the Bible and Animal Fables. As the comic market changed after World War II, they adapted and began producing books such as this. These books scared the heck out of the authorities. Eventually the publisher, Bill Gaines, had to defend the content of his books before the Senate. This issue may be a perfect reason why they were worried. Here are the titles of all four stories in this issue: Ghost Ship, The Hungry Grave, Caveman, and Zombie. That should give you a pretty fair indication what the book is about. This is the last issue of the title, with the next issue known as Tales From the Crypt. The cover is done by the great Johnny Craig, and other artists on this issue include Al Feldstein and Graham Ingels. This copy is direct from the vault of the publisher, Bill Gaines. Of the 11 copies removed from his vault, this is certified as number 1. The pages are off-white to white. The book is CGC-certified 7.5 (VF).
