Item Description
Each is a standard size matchbook both complete with their contents. The first is all blue with the exception of his initials "HST" within a white oval. NM with original matches. The second book shows the airplane used by Truman, a Douglas VC-118, which was commissioned by the USAAF on July 4, 1947, nicknamed for his home town in Missouri, and today on display at the National Museum of the USAF. The back of this book shows the presidential seal within a .5" circle of gold. It appears the staple on this book and the interior matches are possibly replacements as there is an extra set of staple holes. Very light creasing on the top edges where the cover folds over the interior matches but both sides of the book are totally clean. Rare pieces.
