Item Description
Very attractive 3" button with name of Minneapolis maker on the curl "Wendell-Northwestern, Inc." Humphrey's first run at the presidency came in 1952 as a favorite son of Minnesota but he received only 26 votes on the first ballot. This button was from four years later when there was a 'free-for-all' for the vice-presidential nomination. Thus he is pictured along side Stevenson with Stevenson designated as "President" and with Humphrey designated as "Vice-President" all above the slogan "We'll Sweep The Country!" He received 134 votes on the first ballot but eventually lost out to Kefauver. Button is Hake-Stevenson #152 with 2004 guide value of $292. Cello has a few long hairline scratches showing only in reflected light. On extreme right edge there is a faint virtual pinpoint tan dot barely noticeable. Extremely Fine and displays NM.
