Item Description
This exceptional copy features the first Dr. Occult in DC Comics. Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the hero arrives on the scene in color and in costume. Many historians consider his appearance to be the prototype for Superman. The title is one of the touchstones of the early days in DC history. For the first six issues it was known as New Fun Comics. Issue #9 is considered to be the first standard-sized comic that contained original material. With this issue, the original material takes a turn toward modern heroes with the appearance of Doctor Occult. The title lasted 127 issues; it finally saw cancellation in 1947. The pages are off-white to white. The book is CGC-certified as an apparent 7.0. (FN/VF). Restoration is listed as moderate. This is the second highest graded restored copy they have seen. Restoration includes color touch, pieces added, tear seals, cleaned, reinforced.
