Complete set of 38 cards. Each card is 3x4.25" with choice color photo front and text back relating to that specific boxer/fight. Key cards include: #4 Jack Sharkey, #12 Battling Siki, cards #25-32 featuring Gene Tunney and/or Jack Dempsey. All cards have been graded by SGC and designated by them as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA. The vast majority of the set (21 cards to be exact) grade SGC 60 EX 5. These are card numbers 4-9,11,13,17,18,20,22,24-26,28,30,32,33,35,36. The remaining cards grade as follows: SGC 50 VG/EX 4 (10 cards), numbers: 2,10,14,15,19,21,27,29,31,37; SGC 40 VG 3 (6 cards), numbers: 1,3,16,23,34,37; and SGC 20 Fair 1.5 (1 card) card number 12. An exceptional card issue and one that is very rarely found as a complete set. We know of one other set selling for $3,843 at auction in 2007.
