Item Description
Two items. Soft cover book is 4.25x6.5" copyright 1912 by Richard K. Fox Publishing Company. Number 22 in "Fox's Athletic Library". Front cover has nice photo of Johnson bare fisted in fighting pose. Contains 96 b/w pages with several photos of Johnson along with other boxers including James Jeffries, John L. Sullivan, James J. Corbett, Joe Walcott, Sam Langford. Covers have scattered lt. wear and a few lt. handling creases. Spine is faded and is missing 7/8" bit of paper at bottom. VG. Contents are overall VF/Exc. Comes with 4-5/8x6.25" promo ad sheet with image of this book on front and text promotion on reverse for "Police Gazette" magazine also published by Fox. Sheet has lt. horizontal fold through center. Fine. Nice pair. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
