8.25x11.75" specially made cloth covered portfolio holds 8x11.5" issue of "Boxing Pictorial Souvenir" pulp paper magazine. 24 pages are devoted entirely to coverage of the "Great Fight For The Championship Of The World At Reno, July 4, 1910". As issued, comes with 7.75x10.75" paper picture supplement showing bare fisted boxer "James J. Jeffries The Emperor Of The Boxing Ring". Johnson defended his heavyweight title against "Great White Hope" Jim Jeffries and won by TKO in the 15th round. Custom made portfolio holder is Exc. Souvenir magazine has a few missing front cover corner pieces repaired with archival tape. Overall covers Good, contents Fine. Jeffries supplement photo has 3.5" diagonal crease at upper right. Fine. Historical pair for what was then billed the fight of the century. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
