Official scorecard program for "Bobby Feller And The Big League White All Stars Vs. Satchel Paige And the Great Kansas City Monarchs" game held October 5, 1941 is titled "Play Ball" with additional cover text "The Greatest Inter-racial Game Ever Played In St. Louis". Bottom of front cover has additional text "Added Attraction St. Louis Giants vs Burkarts Panthers". 6-1/8x9" program has stiff paper covers and 16 b/w pages. Front cover has photo of Bob Feller, calling him "Sensational Pitching Star Of Cleveland Indians" and refers to Satchel Paige as "America's One Man Ball Team". Program, including ads, is geared towards the black community. First page has article on Satchel Paige with his photo and begins with text "Now I Know I'll Make Good With The Yanks - I Just Got A Single Off The Great Paige" Joe DiMaggio. Issue includes half page article on Bob Feller with his photo with text including "This Youngster Will Bear Plenty Of Watching In Today's Game As He Opposes The Great Satchel". Other contents include photo of Kansas City Monarchs team in uniform. Photo of Johny Hopp, John O'Neal, promoter Jesse J. Johnson, players Frank Crespi, Newt Allen, H. Smith. Last inside page has article by John T. Clark executive secretary of St. Louis Urban League titled "What Purpose Can Be Served By Inter-racial Games?" Text includes "Deportment of Negro Fans Who Follow Our Athletes, Holds The Answer To How Fast Negro Athletes Will Get Increased Opportunities To Compete" and suggests that Negros leave their liquor at home. Original owner has neatly filled out center section box score area in pencil and it appears that the Big League All Stars beat the Kansas City Monarchs four to one. Covers have lt. aging and center section is pulling loose at top staple. Overall VG/Fine. Extremely limited distribution and scarce. Historical. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
