Item Description
Hanger bar is large 2.75" across with inset celluloid panel showing clasped hands. Couple of scattered gray dots. Reverse of the piece has barpin plus a second wire from which a ribbon was once suspended. Both the bar and medallion are marked by name of maker W&H. The large metal piece suspended from eight brass links is 2-3/8" wide with a raised celluloid dome at the center again showing clasped hands beneath the date of "Organized July 1st 1878" with images of a glass bottle, glass lantern shade, glass goblet, and glass dome. Top of the brass has inscription "8 Hours" and surrounding the celluloid is the text "United We Stand/Divided We Fall/In Union There Is Strength." Some light general aging but a spectacular early union item. The piece is 4.25" tall. c. 1912.
