Item Description
This is a 1-5/8" litho made in Europe as its style is unlike anything used in America. Pictured is Friedrich Missler, the biggest ticket agent in Bremen who shipped immigrants out of Germany to Canada, the US, South America, and South Africa in the late 1800s and early 1900s. He usually gave immigrants a small wallet to hold their ticket and papers and that wallet had a picture of a steamship on the front along with his name thus in later years leading people researching their genealogy to look for a ship named SS Missler when in fact no such ship existed. Button has couple of dozen small paint chips and scratches although vast majority of color remains and with beautiful full gloss. While the piece is printed on metal and has no celluloid covering its reverse edge is folded over and within the channel that creates is a spring pin fixed into position and with a vertical shaft which locks underneath a raised hook. We've seen only three of these and this is by far in the nicest condition. A rarity from the days of early 20th century immigration to America.
