Item Description
First is 1.5" square cardboard box with name of maker "Balfour." Inside insert holds black enamel and "Sterling" lapel stud with threaded post and screw cap reverse. The piece depicts the company's famous bowling ball with an arc of metal topped by a pair of bowling pins. c. 1950s if not earlier. Mint and boxed. Second is 1-5/16" tall beautiful enamel on brass badge with vertical barpin on reverse. Front text reads "Royal Household Bowling Club." Pictured is a portion at least of a castle surrounded by a wreath with a crown above. This is a club open to any past or present worker who served the Royal Household in some capacity. We found a modern version of this pin which stipulated it as having "No Maker's Marks." This must be somewhat earlier as it is clearly marked on the reverse "H.W. Miller Ltd. B'ham." The green enamel on this piece represents the 'Lawn' on which this outdoor version of bowling takes place. Mint.
