Edna Wallace Hopper was an American actress on stage and in silent films. She was among the first actors to have a facelift. She arranged to have the operation filmed and then made personal appearance tours over the next eight years showing the film and giving beauty tips. She was also among the first actors to endorse a line of products of which this cardboard container is an example. The container is 2-5/16" dia. by .75" deep. Her name and an endorsement of the product appears in text on the underside and includes "This is the finest powder I have found. Beauties of the stage and screen use it..." Contents are gone. Light general wear on the cardboard but Fine. Second is a piece of an originally larger cardboard from 1930s with four separate compartments holding samples of the famous "Tangee" beauty products. These "Sample" sizes including 5/8" black tube which has lipstick on the interior but which has also sealed itself shut. The other three pieces are all beautifully designed Art Deco-style tins. There is a 1" "Cream Rouge" tin which also no longer opens. Two tins that do open are the 1.25" "Rouge Compact" which has Mint contents including a small powder puff with the name "Tangee" in deep pink on the cardboard holding the puff. The last piece is a 1-5/8" tin holding "Peach Face Powder." Contents are Mint. Underside of each tin has additional text describing the product and naming the maker "George W. Luft Co."
