Item numbers 1447 through 3204 in auction 204
Item Description
Each is 3x7.5" with printed name at upper left “Edgar Rice Burroughs Tarzana, CA”. First check is #136 filled out and signed in ink dated May 20, 1937 payable to Macintosh in the amount of $61.80 signed “ER Burroughs”. Macintosh was a Los Angeles clothing store. Second check is #362 dated January 10, 1938 filled out to Barker Bros. in the amount of $7.50 signed "ER Burroughs." First check has three barely noticeable lt. vertical folds, both checks have “Paid” cancellation holes with .25" faint ink stamp just barely touching tiny portion letter E in signature. VF appearance overall. Burroughs was quite an active writer during this period including writing “Tarzan The Magnificent” in 1937 and “Tarzan And The Forbidden City” in 1938 as well as the novel “The Lad And The Lion” in 1938. Both would be great to display with a Burroughs photo or book cover.
