7/8" with seven stars accenting the brass frame which surrounds the center ferrotype. There is a small emulsion bubble at the very bottom edge of the image but the emulsion remains totally intact and the details on the photo are incredibly clear. The back of the piece is tin covered and there was once a soldered stickpin although only the very base of the pin remains. Still displays beautifully and one of the very few pieces to depict Colfax by himself.
