Item Description
This is a rare single day political party item. The item is unlisted in Hake as a ribbon badge although the trigate button is Hake #126. The item is 8" tall with ornate, highly detailed and mint luster brass shell hanger suspending a white fabric ribbon plus a 2.5" flag ribbon which joins to the 1.5" celluloid trigate reading "Minnesota State Republican League." McKinley and TR are pictured but only the name "Van Sant" appears on the button. The gold text on the ribbon reads "Delegate/Sixth/Bi-ennial Convention/State/Republican/League/Of Minnesota./St. Paul, July 16th, 1900." The white fabric ribbon has small 1/8" tan dot at upper left and above the word "Delegate" is a .75" vertical line with just the slightest separation in the fabric but barely showing. Lower part of ribbon has just the slightest trace of a few faint age dots. The button itself is essentially Mint. A little gray mark on left edge was dirt now removed. Also see rare Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider Club buttons issued in St. Paul and in this auction as items #248-250.
