Item Description
First is a 2.25" button issued by "Peoples Anti-War Mobilization." Additional text reads "U.S. Out Of The Middle East/Palestine Will Win." This group was formed in response to the Reagan presidency and was composed of numerous anti-war groups as well as community activists, labor unions, anti racists, LGBT, Native American, Central American and Palestinian solidarity groups. Button likely dates from May 3, 1981 event when the group mobilized a hundred thousand protest marchers at the Pentagon. This was the first large mobilization in response to Reagan's policies and also the first to feature a Palestinian speaker. The second button has logo of "November 29 Coalition." This one reads "Stop The U.S. - Israeli Invasion Of Lebanon." This button dates from 1982 when Reagan sent the Marines as part of a 'International Force' into Lebonon after giving the green light to Israel for an invasion earlier in the year. Both buttons are Mint as made. From the Marshall Levin Collection. Comes with Hake's COA.
