Item Description
17x22" stiff paper issued by Hi-Speed Gas © 1939 Radio Merchandisers Inc. Title reads "Educational Map Of South America Featured In The Black Flame Of The Amazon Radio Program." The syndicated program dramatized the adventures of explorer Harold Noice. Center area features detailed overhead map of South America w/small illustrations noting animals, products, landmarks, etc. At top right is photo of Noice plus illustrations of his cohorts. Margins are designed for placement of series of 24 different stamps "Of Harold Noice Expedition." These were given out on a weekly basis by participating gas stations and stamps feature "Unusual Animals, Savages And Also The Scenic Beauty Of The Jungles." Complete set of stamps #1-24 mounted at appropriate spots. Map has never been folded but does have wear and aging. Reverse is noticeably tanned, front shows tanning of margin areas. Bottom center margin has 2" tear w/tape repair on reverse. Top center has .5" tear. For the most part, map area remains clean as do most of the stamps. Overall VG. Rare, only about the fourth we've seen in our 45 years.
