Corbett won the World Heavyweight Boxing Championship knocking out John L. Sullivan in the 21st round on September 7, 1892. In 1894 he took part in the second boxing match ever filmed, fighting Peter Courtney in West Orange, New Jersey. He lost his title to Bob Fitzsimmons in 1897. The fight was filmed and ran over 100 minutes, making it the world’s first feature film. He retired and went into acting, appearing in low budget films and in minstrel shows.
