Item Description
6x8" glossy photo c. early 1950s showing elderly Cy Young wearing shirt and tie about to get into car has "Cy Young" ballpoint pen signature on bottom margin. Photo has eleven additional signatures around sides in either fiber-tip marker or ballpoint pen. All are Cy Young award winners. Includes Jim Palmer, Bob Gibson, Steve Carlton, Tom Seaver, Ron Guidry, Warren Spahn, Steve Stone, Rick Sutcliffe, Mike Flanagan, Gaylord Perry, and Fergie Jenkins. Cy Young signature is a bit lt. in places due to his age and photo has trace of lt. dust soil around edges with a few lt. handling creases mostly just visible in reflected light. Fine/VF overall. Cy Young (1867-1955) was a major league pitcher who had his debut with the Cleveland Spiders in 1890 and his last appearance with the Boston Rustlers in 1911. He had a win-loss record of 511-316 with an earned run average of 2.63 with 2,803 strikeouts. He holds the major league record for most career innings pitched at 7,355 with most career games started at 815, and most complete games at 749. The Cy Young Award was first introduced in 1956 by baseball commissioner Ford Frick. A unique signed baseball item rich in history for top pitching stars of the 20th century. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
