Item Description
From 1934 in stark black and white enamel and brilliant silver luster. Band is a non-adjustable size 9 and inner surface carries symbol of the ring maker Uncas. It does not say "Made In U.S.A." which was added to rings intended for Canadian distribution. Our last NM example in Auction #199 exceeded $10,000.00. While overall we grade this example as Fine Plus, in fact the top 85% of the ring to the naked eye appears NM. The worst of the wear is limited to a short .5" segment at the very bottom of the ring band. About 40% of the silver is off this half inch long narrow band and its edges are just a trifle rough to the touch. Not showing are three 1/16" dots of silver luster off the inside surfaces. The exterior silver luster on the ring remains over 90% intact. On the ring top there are a few pinpoint enamel flakes off the outer edge but nothing that reveals underlying metal nor is even large enough to see from 8" or so away. Under magnification there are about 15 microscopic pinpoint dots of silvering off the top border and skull. Without magnification these are essentially invisible. Both the enamel top and 90% of the ring base remain lusterous and glossy as issued. Fine, but displaying NM from top and side views. See original box for this ring as part of Spider ring item #1681. The Hake Pop Culture guide current values for this ring are Good-$2,500; Fine-$6,000; VF-$10,000; N. Mint-$16,000. The consignor has set an extremely reasonable opening for a ring of this rarity and high grade condition.
