Curl has name of NYC maker Emress. We don't know the exact purpose of this button except that there were "Barnum Festival" events held in his home town of Bridgeport, CT. Perhaps this was used for that purpose. There is a little even gray tone above and to the upper right of the clown's hat but rest remains clean and piece overall has nice gloss displaying Fine. Only example we've seen.
