Item Description
Each is 10.75x16" newsprint supplement "Special Childrens Section of the New York Sunday American" with eight pages. All feature paintless front and back covers designed for child to use with brush and water to bring out full color. 1921 dates are December 4, 11, and 18. 1922 dates are January 8, March 19, April 2, May 7, May 28. Six of eight front covers have art by Nell Brinkley including one with two girls boxing. A few inside pages are also paintless but also feature full color pages. Pages designed to be cut out and mounted include characters Maud the Mule, The Katzies. Characters on paintless pages include Jiggs and Maggie, Krazy Kat reading a fairytale book to animals, and Alice in Mother Goose Land. Corners have a few lt. creases here and there and a few issues have trace of lt. margin tanning, though not brittle. Overall Fine/VF. Wonderful concept and design obviously just issued for the NYC metro area. Additional photos online.
