Item Description
Each is printed in either 9.25x13.75" horizontal format or 9-7/8x13" vertical format. The Superman daily comic strip began on January 16, 1939 and the Superman Sunday strip began on November 5, 1939. This group begins with the eighth strip ever published which is dated Dec. 24, 1939 and the group ends with No.177 in 1943. Story and art are credited to Jerry Seigel and Joe Shuster with lettering by Joe's brother Frank Shuster. Each strip is individually numbered. Includes: No. 8, 9, 13, 27 (plus one duplicate), 28 (plus duplicate), 41, 42, 43, 53, 55, 58, 60, 61 (plus one duplicate), 81, 82, 110, 169, and 177. Storylines include Superman rescuing Lois, fighting robots, and other heroic acts with him leaping or jumping into action in the early pages and eventually flying into action. Page #110 is printed in red, all others are in bright full color. Blank margin edges of several pages are a bit worn but image areas are overall VF/Exc. An early and historic lot with many superb classic images.
