Item Description
8x10" cardstock for event held Aug. 14, 1942 sponsored by Louisville Baseball Club, Station WAVE and the Ortel Brewing Company shows 25 member team in full uniforms. Photo also includes trainer in center, bat boys, and sports announcer Don Hill at upper left at WAVE microphone. Bottom of photo lists all people shown in photo by Mayberry. This 1942 team played Class AA ball and had a win/loss record of 78-76. The team was affiliated with the Boston Red Sox and managed by Bill Burwell. Several players would go on to play in the Major Leagues including John Lazor, Bill Sayles, Chet Covington, Stan Sperry, Chet Morgan, and Joe Wood. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
