Item Description
3-3/8x5-3/8" Azo postcard published by Patton Postcard Company of Salem, OR has image of 11 member team in uniform with team mascot holding ball and glove in foreground on baseball field with stadium in bkg. Text includes "Tri-State League." Trace of lt. handling wear and dust soil, but unused and VF. The Western Tri-State League was formed in 1912 and disbanded in 1914. The Class D League included the Walla Walla Bears who spent all three seasons in the league and would go on to win the first- half league championship in 1913. Players Bob Jones and Paul Strand would go on to play in the Major Leagues. Jones played nine seasons with the Detroit Tigers from 1917 to 1925 and Strand played with the Boston Braves and Philadelphia Athletics between 1913 and 1924. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
