Item Description
From 1944. 4x8.75x15" tall overall ornate trophy with wood base and column has white metal eagles on left and right sides and majorette with baton on top. Metal plaque on front has text "Presented To Lillian Stanford's Hi-Steppers August 6, 1944 For Participation In Connie Mack's 50th Anniversary Celebration At Shibe Park". Scattered wear with some scratches here and there, luster is a bit worn on metal parts, mostly noticeable on plaque area. Complete, intact and VG. Held in Philadelphia, the event commemorated Mack's fifty years as a Major League manager which began with the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 4, 1894. The stadium was packed and the celebration culminated with Mack naming his All-Star team of living players with each one exiting the dugout as introduced. Attendees included Babe Ruth, Walter Johnson, Honus Wagner, and Bill Dickey. A nicely detailed unusual item for the Mack completeist.
