Item numbers 1427 through 3167 in auction 205
Item Description
Sign measures 20" tall, tapering from 9" at bottom to 12" at top. Dated 2-39 at lower right but this is partially obscured by surface paper rub. Color illustration shows available premiums including "Dick Tracy Rocket Plane, Official Dick Tracy Flashlight, Monogram Ring, 3-Power Pocket Size Telescope, Your Own Secret Telephone." Rocket plane was available for 5 box tops or single box top and 10¢. Designed as a 2-sided sign to be hung on a string for in-store display, this is one side only which has been mounted to stiff cardboard display. Corner tip wear. Fine/VF. Complete 4-piece airplane issued by Quaker in 1939. Plane is clearly shown on sign. Consists mostly of balsa wood w/silk screen designs on the parts as well as metal clips/braces and stiff paper tail fin. Plane design includes text on body and wings plus Dick Tracy's portrait done in a star design, plane also has simulated windows. Missing issued launching stick w/rubber band. Scattered aging and dust soiling but complete. Tail fin has moderate aging w/some wear including a 1" tear. While plane shows some wear, still relatively solid condition for this fragile premium. Rare.
