Item Description
Beautiful uncirculated example of this 1-5/8" white metal medal featuring beautiful design by "W.H. Key, Phila." of spread wing eagle holding ribbon in its beak reading "Freedom To All Men" and with its talons clutching oval portraits of "Lincoln/Johnson" flanked by four flags and centered below by shield reading "War For The Union." Reverse outer edge reads "Republican Candidates 1864" with center text reading "For President Abraham Lincoln Of Illinois/For Vice President Andrew Johnson Of Tennessee." This medal has been encapsulated (removeable) and certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation. It is assigned a grade of "MS61"(their numerical grade 60-70 corresponds to "Mint State [uncirculated])." The NGC label also specifies this was from the "Bill Weber Collection." For a Stephen Douglas item from the same collection see item #182. A superior example of a rare medal.
