Item Description
15/16" with rim hole as made. Each candidates name is printed on the ferrotype itself above each portrait. The piece consists of a brass outer ring plus an inner brass ring surrounding the ferrotype. The space in between was once covered in felt. On the Lincoln side this is still there although the felt has lost most of its nap. On the Hamlin side the felt is totally missing so that ferrotype is surrounded by a dark circular piece of tin. The Lincoln ferrotype is slightly to the dark side but has a clean emulsion surface with no chips or other significant damage. The Hamlin ferrotype is also a tad to the dark side and this has a small 1/16x1/8" emulsion flake off the lower edge of his suit coat. A rare piece overall in VG condition but with the ferrotypes themselves closer to VF.
