Item Description
Brass badge of substantial weight is 2-3/8" tall. On the reverse is a vertical pin shaft with just a small bend at its tip. There is no maker identification on the piece. The front of the piece has the inscription surrounding the state seal which includes plows, horse's head, and figures of Liberty and the Roman Goddess Ceres. Left side of the badge has three small and darker tarnish marks but overall condition remains Fine. The Bureau of Prohibition was a federal law enforcement agency formed to enforce the National Prohibition Act of 1919. Investigators were called Prohibition Agents, or as on this state issued example Prohibition Officer, although the more colloquial name "prohis" was more frequently used. c. 1920s and rare. We've seen only one other example.
