Item Description
Each of these is 1.75". The first is a monthly dues button with rim reading "United Mine Workers Of America. Working Button." At center is large numeral 1 representing the month of January along with the date "1903." Reverse has a tin back with cutouts surrounding a center panel which holds the bar pin. Beneath the tin is a W&H backpaper. Very light tone on the celluloid but no spotting. The earliest we recall seeing. Second button is without backpaper but from the early 1900s with slogan "In Union There Is Strength. Justice To All." Shown are various tools and bottom edge has name of maker W&H.
