Item Description
1-5/16" embossed silver brass European made badge with bar pin on reverse. Scene shows World War II German 'armored car' breaking through a fence surrounded by text "Freedom Tank/Czechoslovakia/Western Germany/July 25, 1953." After two years of planning driver Vaclav Uhlik and seven passengers rolled over three rows of barbed wire shocking Czech border guards who were apparently so surprised they did not attempt to prevent the escape into West Germany. Fascinating additional information about this event on the Internet. The piece is essentially Mint as made and only example we've seen.
