Item Description
In conjunction with a post-season visit by the AL Champion Detroit Tigers, Cabanas brand cigarettes issued this set. 35 cards are known in the set which featured three teams: Detroit Tigers, Almendares and Habana. Each team had its own specific border design/color around portrait photo image on the front with player's name and position below. Text on back references both Cuban and American players and promotes Cabanas cigarettes. Cards measure 1.5x2.25". This card is from the Habana Lions subset. Palomino was a two-time Cuban Winter League batting champion. In 1957, he was inducted into the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
