Item Description
8x10" vintage mat with thick cardboard backing as issued that has simulated woodgrain design. 4-3/8x6.25" opening around glossy photo w/wonderful image of Paige in Monarchs uniform with his wife who is seated in front row of baseball stadium. Mostly African-American crowd in attendance behind them. Photo has credit "J.E. Miller K.C.-41" with applied typewritten paper caption "Mr. & Mrs. Satchel Paige Kansas City Monarchs Pitching Ace". Paige played for the Monarchs in 1935 and then again from 1939 to 1947. Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
