Item Description
Lead pencil art for proposed 1935 cartoon which was never produced. 9.5x12" sheet of animation paper has 5.5x9" image area in lead pencil with a few red pencil highlights. Delightful image has three headed sea monster with one of his three arms holding newspaper with headline "Hollywood Producer Needs Sea-Monster", another arm holds large shell. Upper right corner tip has tiny lead pencil number "93". Extreme margin edges have lt. age toning, blank reverse side has dark aging across bottom which does show through a bit on front. Image area itself is clean and Exc. The cartoon would have pitted Mickey, Donald, and Goofy against a comic sea monster. Ferdinand Horvath was a story sketch artist at Disney from 1934 to 1937 who brought a European style to the Disney cartoons. He worked on many of the Disney shorts and did preliminary work on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Humorous and extremely well drawn.
