Item Description
6x8" glossy photo. c. early 1950s showing elderly Cy Young, has his black ink signature on bottom margin. Photo has eleven additional signatures around sides in either felt tip pen or blue ink. All are Cy Young Award-winners, including Jim Palmer, Bob Gibson, Steve Carlton, Tom Seaver, Ron Guidry, Warren Spahn, Steve Stone, Rick Sutcliffe, Mike Flanagan, Gaylord Perry, and Fergie Jenkins. Young's signature is a bit lt. in places and photo has trace of lt. dust soiling/handling wear mostly visible in reflected light only. Fine/VF overall. Cy Young (1867-1955) was a Major League pitcher who had his debut w/the Cleveland Spiders in 1890 and made his last appearance w/the Boston Rustlers in 1911. He had a win-loss record of 511-316 with an earned run average of 2.63 with 2,803 strikeouts. He holds the Major League record for most career innings pitched at 7,355 with most career games started at 815, and most complete games at 749. The Cy Young Award was first introduced in 1956 by baseball commissioner Ford Frick. A unique signed baseball item, rich in history for top pitching stars of the 20th Century.
